The Rockpool

At every beach around the British Isles you can find a rockpool full of life and beautiful colours and textures. We have turned this into a lovely but easy to do hand embroidery kit with limpets clinging to the rocks intertwined with seaweed. Look closely and you might even see a baby octopus hiding in the seaweed! Simple stitching and lots of beads make for an easy and pleasant kit to do. As with most Rowandean kits there is plenty of scope to do your own thing!

This was my first try at this kind of embroidery, having only done cross stitch previously. The kit was everything I needed (minus hoop) and the instructions were simple enough to follow (but perhaps numbering the steps might have been a good addition just to clarify for total beginners, like me). I will be ordering another one after I hit send on this review.

A very enjoyable kit to work on. Plenty of opportunities for improvisation and personalisation, and lots of different textures created by the variety of threads, yarns, beads and sequins included in the kit, as well as the different stitches and techniques used to complete the design. As always threads, beads and sequins left over for other projects. A real favourite among the Rowandean kits I have completed.
